Summer is Official

Welcome to the first day of summer! The longest day of the year. Too bad I wake up early in the morning and need to learn how to go to bed before midnight! All in time. So this week I will be a "Guest Blogger" for my friend Ellen! On How Does Your Garden Grow ,Ellen keeps us up to date with her fun teaching experiences, cooking ideas, and green thumb abilities! She will be off eurotrashing...I mean traveling in London and France for the next couple of weeks! (Insert jealous cynical comment here). BUT...I was able to visit Paris, France in March and will share some of our amazing trip experience on her blog! So until then, I leave you my summer so far:

I learned how to do my hair like our girl LC...Finally!

Don't worry....it only lasted about 2 hours.
These colors are in. Trust me. Or don't...but I have awesome toes.

Um, what's your favorite season?

Wedding Season! Thats right, summers mean every weekend is booked with weddings. Fortunately, I believe I have hit my peak for attending weddings this year. One more in July, and October and I think we can call it a year. The wedding I attending over the weekend was Ruthie and Michael's! Ruthie is now working her dream job at a Christian publishing agency and you can check out her website because she is also a writer! She is working on her first book and we are so proud of her! The wedding was at Michael's parents in the back yard and was GORGEOUS! Not a dry eye in the house when Ruthie walked down the aisle to marry the love of her life! Congrats you two! It was a blast!

Me and Sarah flew into Charlotte, N.C. and had some down town so we found a Comic Book Hero Convention after our nice lunch and did some great people watching!

I'm Fifty.....or just half way there.

I turned 25 years old yesterday....and I realized....I'm half way to Fifty! How strange is that? When you are 16, 18, and even 21 you think about what your life will look like at 25...but that picture doesn't always become our reality. I assumed I would be married already, and have a great job. Well, all I know is that God has our story written for us already and I'm overwhelmed with joy thinking about where He has me today. I truly have joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart...WHERE?!

Friday Favorites:

"I'm Fifty" from SNL. Sally O'Mally is my future goal.

Flowers Jared gave me on my birthday

Michael Kors Black Plastic Bracelet Watch. You can get the affordable one at Target for $12.99 and I definitely did yesterday.

Memorial Day and Birthday Week

What a great 3 1/2 day weekend. I say 3 1/2 because I took off at noon on Friday....beauty of contract work. The recap: Marietta Square started their last Friday of the month concert series (Yacht Rock will be June 24th!), Saturday morning coffee with friends at the most beautiful coffee shop on the Chattahoochee River, then Stone Mountain, and then Saturday night UFC fight (don't ask me who won). Sunday church and dinner with Alison and Brad (we played Scattergories....and I did NOT win). Monday was early morning trip to Dahlonega to hike at Woody Gap on the A.T., lunch on the square, and cookout with Jared's parents. Tuesday = exhausted at work.

On to Wednesday Highlights for the week! These are just the important things you (actually just my opinion) need to know!

1. BBC says, apparently a bunch of Germans have E coli....and its not from Spanish cucumbers...whew! Welcome to summers at White Water Them Park in Marietta, Georgia where everyone there gets E coli....big whoop! Read it HERE.

2. Two girls fell out of the W. Hotel in Midtown and one died. They were horsing around? This is getting iffy.... and no one wants to explain. You can check it out. for yourself...in the mean time, I'm going to stick to W. Downtown (at least that one has a helicopter landing pad)

3. Justin Timberlake's Vanity Fair article is up...and they don't address rumors that he is dating one of the Olsen Twins (who I share a birthday with...random I know). He just blabs on about J. Biel (who cares J.T.!!)...and how he maybe NOW will sorta kinda not really ever think about marriage or settling down! Dating an Olsen twin? He is definitely never going to settle down. Which is perfect for us long time NSYNC fanatics who knew better to crush on J.T. then Lance.

4. Need quick chicken recipes? Southern Living has some great ideas for Quick Fixes with Rotisserie Chicken. I'm going to attempt this tonight: Chicken Risotto (trying to recreate some new things I tried while on our Paris vacation in March (yeah lay off me...I had never tried Risotto).

5. How to be Filled with the Spirit. I've loved reading John Piper articles. Articles covering all areas of the Christian faith are available to read...filled with God's word and encouragement. This article I read reminded me of how simple, sometimes, we are called to live. Its not a complicated math problem, or a far of physics equation. Its not even just a history lesson you need to memorize. Jesus says, "my yoke is easy and my burden is light" Matthew 11:30. His yoke(teachings) is not meant to be complicated, over thought, over stressed, over worked, and as a result overly forgotten or missed. Its an experience. Relationship based on Grace and Mercy from our Abba Father, and our Redeemer Jesus Christ. It is about simply being drunk on the Holy Spirit. "No one can fail to be bold and eager in witness when the Spirit is producing in him overflowing joy, perpetual gratitude and humble love. O how we need to be filled with the Spirit! Let’s seek it! Pursue it!". From Desiring God- John Piper's website.
